<p>Stone (pit) coal contg. high amounts (>30%) volatile material is mixed before coking with fine grained ore of 0.2 mm grain-size, added in amounts such that O2 released from ore on coking causes a controlled oxidn. of coal material and enables required coke quality to be attained. Ore-caused oxidn. pref. also applies to binder admixed to coal, e.g. coal tar pitch. Ore may be replaced by low temp. coal of 0.1 mm grain-size. Prod. is suitable as metallurgical coke.</p> |
