PURPOSE: An adaptive channel quality information generation method and an apparatus thereof in a wireless communication system are provided to generate CQI according to a channel environment by using control information including channel environment. CONSTITUTION: An MCS(Modulation and Coding Scheme) index and resource allocation information of a traffic channel are transmitted. The spectrum efficiency is calculated in a specific time(600). The temporary index having spectrum efficiency close to the calculated spectrum efficiency is calculated(602). A CQI metric read out before the specific time(604). The possibility of error in the traffic channel is determined based on the CQI metric. The error test result of the traffic channel is transmitted(608).
