The invention relates to metallurgy - namely, to the method for processing molten metal or alloy. A method for processing molten metal or alloy consists in passing through the molten metal or alloy of current pulses and electrohydropulse action on the melt from an electric-discharge chamber - with electrodes and a waveguide rod immersed in the melt, and at first electrohydropulse action on the melt is performed, and then through the melt, which is crystallized, current pulses are passed at natural frequency of discharge current from 100 to 120 kHz and specific energy in the pulse from 1.5 to 3.5 kJ/t. The invention provides uniform distribution of impurities over the cross section of casting from the melt, enhances saturation of the melt by crystallization nuclei during shaping process, promotes for obtaining fine-grained structure, removal of zonal chemical heterogeneity and improvement of the level of physical and mechanical properties of cast metal or alloy, and thus, improvement of the quality of casting. |
