Disclosed is a process for the preparation of bitumen foam, wherein a gas is dispersed in bitumen with a temperature of less than 200 degrees C and with a viscosity of 100-10,000 mPas measured at said temperature using EN 12596, wherein the process comprises bringing said gas tangentially into contact with a bitumen stream, and wherein the contact time of said bitumen and said gas is less than 1 minute, to obtain a bitumen foam that is not dehydrogenated, oxidised or otherwise chemically modified, and in which at least 10 vol% gas is distributed substantially homogeneously.
