PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder adaptable to various thicknesses of paper while adjusting the paper into an optimum shape depending on the thickness of the paper when sucked. SOLUTION: The paper having a thin and soft cover can be sucked into a narrow recessed portion at the center of a table 1, and the sucked paper can be carried passing under a stopper 3 in the state of preventing the carriage of the after-second cover. On the other hand, the paper having a thick and hard cover can be largely deformed by enlarging the width of the recessed portion at the center of the table 1 with manual operation or the drive of a motor, and so it can be sucked by a suction part 4 so that the sucked cover 2a can be carried passing under the stopper 3.
