PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MVA-LCD with slits, exhibiting improved transmittance and response time at the same time. SOLUTION: A sub-pixel electrode 72, a common electrode 71 and liquid crystal molecules are combined to form a liquid crystal alignment unit. In the liquid crystal alignment unit, at least two slits 711 and 712 crossing each other at one point are created in the common electrode, and slits 721 are created in the sub-pixel electrode 72 and extend along diagonals of the sub-pixel electrode 72. The slits 711 and 712 in the common electrode 71 and the slits 721 in the sub-pixel electrode 72 are slightly staggered from one another. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
