PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical scanner which has an excellent and stable optical performance and is capable of being made compact, and to provide an image forming apparatus using the optical scanner. SOLUTION: A plurality of faces to be scanned are arranged on one and the same plane, and an optical deflector 102 includes: a first reflecting mirror 104 which has a plurality of reflection faces in a sub-scanning direction corresponding to respective light sources 301 and scans respective faces to be scanned with light, and reflects the luminous fluxes, which are closer to the respective faces to be scanned among the plurality of luminous fluxes deflected with the optical deflector 102 and pass through an imaging lens 103, to the direction moving away from the faces to be scanned; a second reflecting mirror 105 which reflects the light reflected on the first reflecting mirror 104 to the optical deflector 102 at the side of the supporting plate opposite to the fixing face of the imaging lens 103; and a third reflecting mirror 106 which allows the light reflected on the second reflecting mirror 105 pass between the optical deflector 102 and the imaging lens 103 to guide the light onto the respective faces to be scanned.
