PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earth retaining wall structure which enables excavation to be performed by a shield machine, and which can increase strength. SOLUTION: In this earth retaining wall structure, an end of an H-shaped steel material 2 and an end of a composite body 10, which is constituted by superposing a plurality of plate-like members 3-6 made by mixing inorganic fibers into a plastic foam, are joined together. A pair of flanges 12 at the end of the H-shaped steel material 2 joined to the composite body 10 is notched except a web 11; ends of the pair of composite bodies 10 are provided across the web 11 of the H-shaped steel material 2 in such a manner as to lead to notched portions of the flanges 12; and a side surface of the composite body 10 is almost flush with an outer surface of the remaining flange portion of the H-shaped steel material 2.
