The present invention relates to a method for controlling a light source in a wavelength division multiplexed passive optical network (WDM-PON). In one exemplary embodiment, this method can be implemented with an apparatus for controlling a light source in the WDM-PON. The apparatus can comprise a digital signal processing device configured to output a pilot tone signal. Moreover, the apparatus can comprise an amplifier configured to modulate current and the pilot tone signal, for outputting an amplitude modulated signal. The apparatus can further comprise a capacitor configured to perform AC-coupling of the amplitude modulated signal with a bias current that is applied to the light source; and a monitoring photodiode configured to detect an output optical signal from the light source and then transmit the detected output optical signal to the digital signal processing device, for controlling the output optical signal of the light source. |
