PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray diagnostic apparatus which improves the visibility of the position of a blood vessel by improving the removal characteristics of a background of an angiographic blood vessel and improving the contrast of the angiographic blood vessel. SOLUTION: The X-ray diagnostic apparatus includes an image generation unit 005 generating X-ray image data on the basis of X-ray data, bottom holding means to generate bottom holding image data on the basis of detected X-rays transmitted through a subject injected with a contrast medium, an averaging unit 006 generating averaged image data on the basis of the pixel value in first X-ray data, a weight decision unit 008 deciding on the weight by comparing the pixel value of the bottom holding image data with the same of the averaged image data, an image synthesis unit 009 synthesizing images on the basis of the weight, and a roadmap image generation unit 010 generating a roadmap image by comparing the synthesized image data with second X-ray image data generated on the basis of X-rays transmitted through a subject not injected with the contrast medium and detected.
