PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for erecting a support column on a plant cultivation surface with which an erected support column can be firmly held while inhibited from tilting down, and also the support column can be erected at a desired position on the plant cultivation surface, even when the support column can not be erected while deeply inserted into a plant cultivation surface. SOLUTION: The structure for erecting a support column on a plant cultivation surface is such that a soil layer 2 having a top surface part 2a as a plant cultivation surface is formed inside a planter 1, a beads-like water-retaining layer 3 is formed under the soil layer 2, an upper mesh sheet 4 is set to the intermediate part in a direction of the depth of the soil layer 2, and a lower mesh sheet 5 is horizontally set to the boundary part between the soil layer 2 and the beads-like water-retaining layer 3, wherein the support column 6 is set up on the plant cultivation surface 2a and passes through the upper and lower mesh sheets 4, 5 so as to be inserted into the beads-like water-retaining layer 3, so that the support column 6 is held while inhibited from tilting down.
