<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rechargeable battery and a battery module wherein output per unit weight is improved and heat dissipation characteristics are improved. <P>SOLUTION: The rechargeable battery includes, so as to improve heat dissipation characteristics, an electrode group having at least one terminal, a case equipped with a groove in which the electrode group is housed and an opening which opens one side so that the electrode group passes therethrough, a film lid extended on the opening to fix the electrode group into the groove, a heat dissipation member formed at the case and extended from the case toward the outside so as to exhaust heat from the groove having the electrode group housed therein. The rechargeable battery can include a plurality of electrode modules. Each battery module includes electrode groups positioned in the groove of the case. The opening of the case is covered with the film lid, and the case can include at least one first dissipation member extended from the case toward the outside.
