<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake pedal device of an automobile, in which a structure for turning a pedal arm lower part to a vehicle body front side by using the force generated by a collision is provided with a simple constitution having a small number of components, shortening the working time during the manufacture is shortened, and the weight of the device is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The brake pedal device has a pedal arm 6 pivotably supported turnably around the axis X of rotation provided on a pedal bracket 3 fixed to a vehicle body, and a link member 4 turnably connected to the pedal arm 6 by a connection part 5. The link member 4 is equipped with: a master cylinder connection part 44 connected to a master cylinder 9; a collision part 43 to collide with a part of the vehicle body by a head-on collision of a vehicle; and an engagement part 42 which is engaged with the pedal arm 6 and disengaged ahead of the vehicle body by the collision of a part of the vehicle body to the collision part 43.
