PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which can attain suitable white balance control, even under an illumination light, such as an LED and an EL, and further achieve stable white balance control, without having to depend on the color of an object, even under a conventional light source. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes a black area parameter calculating means for extracting an area determined to be black from image data sent from an imaging means which is a CCD imaging element and calculating a white-balance correction parameter; and an image correcting means for performing correction processing of the image data, on the basis of the parameter calculated by the black area parameter calculating means.
