PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin lightening composition, a plant-derived skin lightening composition, and a composition possessing skin lightening effect. SOLUTION: Each of the skin lightening composition, the plant-derived skin lightening composition, and the composition possessing skin lightening effect includes: an effective amount of a spermidine derivative which is represented by formula (I) (wherein R1 to R5 are each independently H, OH or OCH<SB>3</SB>, provided that at least one of R1 to R5 is OH) and has tyrosinase inhibiting activity; and a cosmetically or medicinally permitted excipient.
