PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain biting-in of foreign matters, while restraining an excessive increase in delivery pressure of an oil pump with excellent responsiveness. SOLUTION: This relief valve 11 is provided with: a cylindrical valve storage part 23 for opening relief holes 21 and 22 on a sidewall for communicating a delivery chamber 9 and a bypass chamber 12; a valve element 24 for opening and closing the relief holes by advancing and retreating in the axial direction of the valve storage part; and a spring 25 for energizing the valve element toward a full closure position. The first relief holes 21 and the second relief holes 22 are successively opened in response to lift operation of the valve element, while they are separately formed in the axial direction of the valve storage part in the valve storage part. The first relief holes are formed in circular shapes, and are formed by juxtaposing the holes having the same diameter in a plurality in the peripheral direction of the valve storage part.
