PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated wrapping paper having high whiteness, excelling in flexo ink color development and contrast of type face, and exhibiting excellent processability in varnish processing, lamination or the like usually applied for the wrapping paper, and bag-making characteristics. SOLUTION: The coated wrapping paper having a coated layer containing a pigment and an adhesive at least on one surface of a base paper is characterized as follows. The base paper comprises a bleached kraft pulp containing≥30 mass% of soft wood bleached kraft pulp. The coated layer contains calcined kaolin as a pigment.
