Turbine driven well-drilling head - using drilling mud motive power and automatic speed limiter

The multi stage drive turbine is in the upper part of the casing with stators fixed to the casing and rotors fixed to the drive shaft. The blades in this section are aerodynamically curved and lie in opposite directions. Below the turbine is a braking turbine whose stators and rotors are similarly fixed but whose blades lie in the same direction esp. making equal angles with the plane perpendicular to the drive shaft axis. They may also be streamlined in which case their centre lines are at equal angles. They may be of constant height or increase in height with radial distance from centreline.
