The transmission has a brake (03) and clutches (13, 16, 37, 47) that are engaged to produce different transmission ratios between drive and output shafts (1, 2). The drive shaft is connected with a carrier of a first planetary gear set (P4). A shaft (5) is connected with a ring gear of a second planetary gear set (P1) and to a carrier of a third planetary gear set (P2). A ring gear of a fourth planetary gear set (P3) is connected to a housing (G). The output shaft is connected with second and third shafts (6, 8), and the second planetary gear set is interlocked by engaging one of the clutches.
