PURPOSE: A method for controlling a common rail fuel pump and a device for conducting the same are provided to maintain required rain pressure regardless of the capability of a pump. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a common rail fuel pump is as follows. A control valve of a pump element is controlled by responding output control signals(52a,52b,52c,52d,52e,52f) obtained from one or more pumping events. The output control signals are obtained as follows. A rail pressure value(42), measured by measuring fuel pressure, is obtained. A rail pressure error is obtained by comparing the measured rail pressure value with a required rail pressure value. The proportional and integral terms of the rail pressure error are obtained by performing the proportional integral calculation of the rail pressure error. Output control signals are obtained by coupling the proportional and integral terms. |
