An hydraulic brake fluid comprises at least 20 parts by wt. of a lubricant proportion (defined as the residue of an evaporation test) and at most 80 parts by wt. of a solvent proportion comprising 10-75% by wt. of a liquid monoalkyl ether of #-hydroxy-#<SP>1</SP>-[2-hydroxy-propoxy]-diethyl ether having the general formula RO.CH 2 .CH 2 .OCH 2 .CH 2 .OCH 2 .CH(CH 3 )OH in which R is an alkyl radical, and 90-25% by wt. of a liquid monoalkyl ether of triethylene glycol having the formula in which R1 is an alkyl radical..The lubricant proportion may be a polyethylene glycol or an ether thereof, a polypropylene glycol or an ether thereof, a copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide or an ether thereof, a polyglycerol, an ester of a polyglycerol with ricinoleic acid, an ethoxylate of a polyglycerol or a mixture thereof.</p> |
