PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition and method for forming sub-micrometer and micrometer size stable particles of water-insoluble or poorly soluble drugs or other industrially useful water-insoluble compounds. SOLUTION: The invention uses combinations of natural or synthetic phospholipids, a charged surface modifier (for example, a high purity charged phospholipid), and a block copolymer coated or bonded onto the surfaces of the water-insoluble compound particles. The combination of the charged surface modifier and the block copolymer allows the formation and stabilization of the sub-micrometer and micrometer size compound particles. The particle is stabilized and provided with electrostatic stability by the charged phospholipid, and is provided with steric stabilization by the block copolymer. Therefor, the combination of the charged surface modifier and the block copolymer prevents the particles from particle growth, aggregation or flocculation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
