PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet irradiation device that allows cleaning work, while specifying contaminated positions. SOLUTION: The ultraviolet irradiation device includes a visible light source LG for emitting a visible light; an ultraviolet light source VG for emitting ultraviolet light; an illuminance sensor 50 for detecting illuminance; a discriminating means 42 for comparing the output of the illuminance sensor 50, with a preset threshold to sort the illuminance into two or more stages; and a first drive circuit 31 for emitting the light of the visible light source LG at low luminance in the luminance, when the detected illuminance by the illuminance sensor 50 is higher than the threshold, and for emitting the light of the visible light source LG at high luminance which is not lower than the low luminance in darkness, when the detected illuminance is not higher than the threshold.
