PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately perform color interpolation even in an image edge portion or the like without expanding a data amount or a computational amount. SOLUTION: A preprocessing section 610 is provided for producing a first G interpolated signal by interpolating a G color component at a position of a pixel of interest having an R or B color component and at a position of a pixel having the same color component as the pixel of interest. Furthermore, a nearby G pixel G color difference R/B pixel generating section 620 is provided for generating a first G color difference at the position of the pixel of interest and at the position of the pixel having the same color component as the pixel of interest while using the first G interpolated signal. The nearby G pixel G color difference R/B pixel generating section 620 also generates a second G color difference signal at a position of a nearby G pixel using the first G color difference signal. Moreover, the second G color difference signal is used to interpolate the R color component or the B color component at the position of the nearby G pixel.
