PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image classification device for classifying images by an adjective. SOLUTION: The image classification device is equipped with: an image inputting means for inputting images; a distribution function creating means (step S2) for creating a distribution function of pixel values of the images; a describing means (step S3) for describing the distribution function by an expansion coefficient after expanding the distribution function into a series using a basis function that builds a complete system and orthogonal to each other by different weights in the distribution area; an evaluating means (steps S4, S5) for evaluating features of a shape of the distribution function, based on the expansion coefficient; and a classifying means (step S6) for classifying the images into at least two categorized images, based on the evaluation result.
