PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method, allowing maintenance of retrieval accuracy while reducing a system load when retrieving a document. SOLUTION: The retrieval device 10 receives input of a query including at least one clause, extracts a word and the clause included in the received query, extracts a document having a high relevance degree with the word from a document DB 31 storing documents each including at least the one clause by the extracted word, and arranges order of the documents such that a document having a high relevance degree with the document is listed in an upper rank by the extracted clause about the extracted document.
