PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which can avoid the situation that the power of electronic shelf tags disposed in a store is wasted due to transmission of unnecessary communication signals from a server. SOLUTION: An ESL server 10 stores, for each of a plurality of electronic shelf tags 5 provided in an electronic shelf tag system, a last communication time table where a server-side last communication time being the time when communication with the electronic shelf tag 5 was established last is stored, and the server-side last communication time of an electronic shelf tag is updated when communication with this electronic shelf tag 5 is established. When an electronic shelf tag 5 of which the time elapsed after the server-side last communication time exceeds a prescribed time occurs, correspondence between this electronic shelf tag 5 and a commodity 6 is released.
