PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil strainer consisting of two split halves joined together, in which poor performance of joining is unlikely to occur. SOLUTION: The structure is composed of a first counter half-split portion 43 having a concave section which faces a first half 11 and has an opening 41 left open in the suction hole direction (upward), a second counter half-split portion 47 having concave section which faces a second half 13 and has an opening 45 left open in the counter-suction hole direction (downward), and an intermediate half-split piece 15 integrally provided with a cylindrical part 51 having a communication hole 49 positioned between the first 43 and second counter half-split portions 47.
