摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide phycoerythrin that emits fluorescence at previously unknown excitation wavelengths. SOLUTION: The phycoerythrin is derived from a Gracilaria spp. seaweed and has the following characteristics: (1) absorption maximum wavelengths at 496±5 nm, 539±5 nm and 566±5 nm; (2) a fluorescence emission of 573±5 nm at excitation wavelengths of 496±5 nm and 539±5 nm; and (3) a molecular weight of 95,000±5,000 measured by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyaclylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE).
