The multi-stage gear has a drive shaft (1), an output shaft (2) and four planetary sets (P1,P2,P3,P4) which are arranged in a housing (G). Eight rotatable shafts (1-8) and six switching elements are provided. The sun gear of the former planetary set is coupled to the housing of the gear. The bar of the former planetary set is connected with the third shaft.
