A method and apparatus for data transmission of physical uplink control channel in a multiple antenna system is provided in the present invention. Said apparatus includes: a joint coding module which is configured to perform joint coding on data of two kinds of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) formats; a modulation module which is configured to modulate the jointly-coded data; a diversity module which is configured to perform space time block coding (STBC) to the modulated data symbols; and a transmission module which is configured to add reference signal symbols to the data after STBC and transmit it. The present invention can use multiple antennas to transmit the contents of two kinds of physical uplink control channel formats at the same time, and improve transmission diversity gain effectively.
