<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid acid catalyst composed of a porous ion exchanger which has remarkably-improved permeability of a gas or liquid composed of a raw material, a product or a mixture thereof while keeping sufficiently high catalytic activity and which has a specific structure. <P>SOLUTION: The solid acid catalyst composed of the monolithic organic porous cation exchanger being a continuous macroporous structure which is characterized in that bubble-like macropores are superposed on one another and superposed portions become openings of 20-300 μm average diameter in water-wet states, the skeleton part of which has a top layer part of a porous structure.
