PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-road display method and device configured not to perform improper movement display of the position of one's own vehicle displayed on a road on a map owing to a calculation error of the current position calculated by autonomous navigation or GPS navigation, an error of route data, and the like. SOLUTION: The on-road display method includes: calculating the current position of the vehicle; calculating the position of the own vehicle on a road corresponding to the current position by map matching based on a projection method; and, in the case where the position of the own vehicle on the road is displayed in a position on the road on the map moved by a distance of movement from the position to the current position, stopping movement of the position display on the road over a shape link point which largely changes the shape of the road, when the difference between the travelling direction at the current position and the direction of the road corresponding to the current position is a predetermined angle or larger, when the distance between the current position determined by autonomous navigation and the position on the road is a predetermined distance or longer, or when the distance between the current position determined by GPS navigation and the position on the road is a predetermined distance or longer, and moving the position display when these are not more than the predetermined levels.
