<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently manufacturing a methacrylic resin showing excellence in thermal resistance and mechanical strength and having high flowability. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the methacrylic resin using a complete mixing type reactor and a plug flow type reactor connected to the same in series comprises: a process of polymerizing a monomer mixture containing not less than 70 mass% of methyl methacrylate in the complete mixing type reactor until a degree R1 of polymerization reaches 40 to 65% to obtain a polymer P1 having a weight average molecular weight of 50,000 to 100,000; a process of extracting the resin composition containing the polymer P1 from the complete mixing type reactor, feeding 0.1 to 2.0 pts.mass of a chain transfer agent and 0.0005 to 0.01 pt.mass of a polymerization initiator to 100 pts.mass of the monomer mixture, and then polymerizing the resin composition in the plug flow type reactor until the degree R2 of polymerization at the outlet of the plug flow type reactor satisfies 0.65<R1/R2<0.9; and a process of removing a volatile component from the obtained resin composition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
