PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation method for a building, which secures a base-isolation clearance to reinforce a retaining wall without moving the building for base isolation of the building, and to provide a base-isolated building using the base isolation method. SOLUTION: The base isolation method for the building comprises a base isolation device setting process and a retaining wall reinforcing process. In the retaining wall reinforcing process, a level P1 lower than the beam located in a column span is subjected to the reinforcement of the retaining wall by additional casting of concrete, and a beam position level P2 in the column span is subjected to the reinforcement of the retaining wall by additional casting of concrete after changing the beam position so as to secure the base isolation clearance when the base isolation clearance can not be secured. Furthermore, levels lower than the base isolation device 5 around the column position are reinforced by additional casting of concrete without securing the base-isolation clearance. When the reinforcing space for additional casting of concrete can not be secured, the base isolation device setting position around the column position is reinforced so as to transmit a stress force under soil pressure in the column span by added lateral reinforcement while securing the base isolation clearance by chipping the retaining wall 2.
