PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain an antibacterial effect over a longer time and also confirm the maintenance of the antibacterial effect by the sustained release property of an antibacterial agent. SOLUTION: This sustained release antibacterial agent includes antibacterial particles consisting mainly of calcium hydroxide, a pH-indicator, an excipient, and a hardly soluble coating agent. The antibacterial agent is provided with an antibacterial formed material obtained by preparing a mixture by mixing the antibacterial agent particles with the pH indicator using the excipient, and forming a coating layer covering at least a part of the surface of the mixture with the coating agent.
