A mixing valve has a shuttle (108) movable between a hot seat (109) and a cold seat (110) for controlling outlet water temperature with the cold seat (110) being movable towards and away from the hot seat (109) for controlling the flow rate. A control handle (147) is rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the mixing valve for adjusting the position of the shuttle (108) to set the outlet water temperature and is pivotal about an axis transverse to the longitudinal axis for adjusting the position of the cold seat (109) to set the flow rate. The control handle (147) can be rotated and pivoted to control the temperature and flow rate independently of each other or in combination.
