The sensor system i.e. laser scanner (LS), has a data memory comprising information about geometrical form and/or measure of articles that are found in a detection area of the sensor system. A data processing unit compares the information with measuring values of the sensor system. The data processing unit establishes a relation ship between data that is obtained corresponding to the sensor system, and a corresponding data set in a data memory. The data memory is designed as a radio frequency identification-transponder. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for obtaining specific information of object or areas in the surrounding area (2) a device for automatic handling of articles comprising a moving or handling unit.
