The device has a self-locking drive screw (7) whose spindle (9) or nut (13) stands in detachable-connection with an electric motor (3) via a shiftable clutch (12). The spindle stands in effective-connection with the motor, when the nut does not stand in effective-connection with the motor. The spindle forms a stopper for a spindle (8) of a non self-locking drive screw (2), which forms a main output of a linear drive (1). The stopper is synchronously, axially adjusted with respect to preset axial adjustment of the spindle of the non self-locking drive screw during self-locking.
