PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively removing particles on a magnetic disk without damaging the surface of the magnetic disk. SOLUTION: The particles on the magnetic disk are removed by bringing a cleaning member having surface energy higher than that of the magnetic disk into contact with the magnetic disk, leaving them as they are and separating them. In an especially preferable contact method, the magnetic disk and the cleaning member are inserted in a casing, the casing is evacuated by using a vacuum device and the magnetic disk and the cleaning member are pressed by a part of the casing.
