PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously follow focus on a moving subject without spoiling the appearance of a live image as much as possible. SOLUTION: An electronic camera detects movement of a subject image based on image data outputted from an imaging element (step 201). Subsequently, the electronic camera performs a continuous AF when any movement of the subject image is not detected (step 208), and performs servo AF when movement of the subject image is detected(step 205).
