PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-scale, precise illumination information detector having fewer components and provides a precise illumination spectral distribution even with a small number of bands. SOLUTION: The illumination information detector includes: a k band detection part 2 for detecting illumination light and outputting a k band signal; and a signal conversion part 1 for converting the k band signal to an n band signal. The signal conversion part 1 has: an illumination characteristic data calculation part 3 for calculating illumination characteristic data by estimating the type of an illumination light source from the k band signal; and an illumination spectrum estimation part 4 for setting a conversion matrix for converting the k band signal to an n band signal according to the illumination characteristic data.
