PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller-type self-traveling coating device which requires no large-scale equipment; and to provide a coating method. SOLUTION: The roller-type self-traveling coating device includes: a coating roller; a supporting part which rotatively supports the coating roller; a wiper arm part which is connected to the supporting part to move the coating roller upward and downward; a paint-feeding part which feeds a paint to the coating roller; and a traveling body. In addition, the wiper arm part has an adjusting mechanism which adjusts the pressing pressure of the coating roller to a surface to be coated, and is installed on the side face part of the traveling body.
