The method involves storing a reference value in a memory (4a) of a controller (4), where the reference value indicates proper functioning of a friction clutch (2) of a drive device (1), and the controller moves a movable component i.e. rear flap (3), of a vehicle between a closed position and an opened position. An actual value indicating friction torque of the friction clutch is determined, and the reference value is compared with the actual value. The result of the comparison of the reference value and the actual value is evaluated.
