PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition that has excellent affinity to water upon foaming and also has excellent foaming power, low stickiness when washed away, and excellent storage stability with time. SOLUTION: The detergent composition contains (A) an anionic surfactant of hydroxyalkyl ether carboxylic acid type, (B) a water-swellable clay mineral, (C) an anionic polymer, and (D) a long-chain fatty acid amide acetic acid betaine and/or a long-chain fatty acid aminoacetic acid betaine.
