A paper sheet conveying roller (10) is provided with a roller body (13) which consists of elastomer and has a shaft (11) inserted in the inner peripheral side of the roller body (13). Electrically conductive woven fabric (20) is embedded in the roller body (13) so as not to be exposed to the outer peripheral surface of the roller body (13). At least some of the yarns of the woven fabric (20) are yarns each formed by winding an electrically conductive yarn as a covering yarn around the outer periphery of a core yarn which is an electrically non-conductive yarn consisting of resin fibers. The electrically conductive yarn is a yarn formed by, for example, covering the outer periphery of a filament with an electrically conductive material.
