TRANSLUCENT SPINEL CERAMICS AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING TRANSLUCENT SPINEL CERAMICS STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a translucent spinel ceramic which has higher strength and which is a material for forming a translucent structure such as a transparent substrate and to provide a method for producing a translucent spinel ceramic structure using the translucent spinel ceramic.

SOLUTION: The translucent spinel ceramic 20 to form the translucent spinel ceramic structure includes spinel particles and α-alumina particles 22 and further at least one selected from the group consisting of TiO2and P2O5in the spinel particles. It is favorable that the content of the α-alumina particles in the translucent spinel ceramic 20 is 3-50 mol% in the sum of the mass of the spinel particles and the α-alumina particles 22.
