PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transformer failure determination device for improving the accuracy for detecting a short circuit between windings. SOLUTION: The transformer failure determination device comprises: a demagnetization section 2 for demagnetizing an iron core in a transformer; a failure determination section 3 for applying an AC voltage to the transformer whose iron core is demagnetized by the demagnetization section, and determining whether the short circuit is present between the windings in the transformer based on an excitation current at the time; and an informing section 5 for informing a user of a determination result from the failure determination section. The demagnetization section is provided with: an initial processing function for applying a DC voltage for a fixed period, and maintaining a positive saturation state; the function for applying a negative DC voltage, turning off a power supply if a saturation is generated, waiting for a back electromotive force to become 0, and obtaining a time t1 until the back electromotive force becomes 0 after an initiation of an application of the DC voltage; and the function for applying the positive DC voltage for a time of t1/2, and implementing the demagnetization.
