PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device capable of suppressing deterioration of an organic EL element. SOLUTION: The organic EL device includes: an array substrate equipped with an insulating substrate, the organic EL element arranged above the insulating substrate, and a first protective film to cover the organic EL element and to prevent permeation of water into the organic EL element; a sealing substrate arranged above the first protective film of the array substrate; a resin layer arranged between the first protective film and the sealing substrate of the array substrate; and a second protective film formed with silicon dioxide (SiO<SB>2</SB>) to cover a surface of the resin layer exposed from the array substrate and the sealing substrate.
