PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescence purine base derivative in which the fluorescence wavelength or fluorescence intensity largely varies with the difference of a surrounding polar environment, and to provide a probe using the same. SOLUTION: The purine base derivative of the chemical formula and a polynucleotide derivative which introduces the same are disclosed. In the formula, ring A1and ring A2are an aromatic ring of bivalency or trivalency, X1and X2are a carbon-carbon double bond or a carbon-carbon triple bond, Y1and Y2are a substituent chosen from an acyl group, an alkoxycarbonyl group or the like, m and n are one or two, and R1and R2are a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy group.
